"The Alphabet of Wonders" — Behind Every Letter Stand Causes and Results

The morning programme “100% Awake” on BNT presented “The Alphabet of Wonders” — a campaign in which 30 organisations show the power of civic action from the beginning of May through 24 May. Two letters are unlocked each day, and behind each of them stand concrete causes, people and results in education, science and culture.
Dimitar Ivanov joined the studio on behalf of the Sci High Foundation. Also in the conversation were Ivelina Gicheva-Nikolova of The Convo and Hristina Haralampieva of Teach For Bulgaria.
The programme covered:
- how “The Alphabet of Wonders” is structured — two letters a day until 24 May, one organisation behind each letter;
- what stands behind Sci High’s letter — the student science clubs and school festivals the projects pass through;
- why civic action in education is measured in results rather than campaigns;
- what unites organisations from education, science and culture in one shared alphabet.
The initiative’s official page gives the day to Sci High STEM Fest 2026 — the annual festival where students from across the country present their science projects. The entry there frames the question the foundation works on:
one of the most important questions for Bulgaria’s future — how children do not merely learn science, but understand and apply it
The work runs through science clubs and school festivals in which students choose their topics, experiment and follow the scientific method with the support of teachers and mentors — an approach that builds “confidence, curiosity and responsibility — the foundation of an active and thinking civil society”.
